Overview

GCG is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our cable assembly engineering team in our Leominster, MA facility!  

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a vital role in optimizing production processes for wire and cable assemblies, collaborating closely with production teams to support efficient and precise manufacturing. This position combines hands-on work on the production floor with the creation of clear, visually supported process instructions to aid operators.  

 

You’ll develop comprehensive assembly instructions, build test fixtures, and support the production team with any technical questions, ensuring that all assemblies meet exacting quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical or electronics engineering, with a strong preference for experience in wire harness and cabling environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential, while experience with Oracle ERP and CAD is a plus. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys balancing technical documentation with direct engagement in production. 

 

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement after the 90-day training period has concluded and our offices facility is located at 110 Jytek Dr. Leominster, Massachusetts. 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Create technical drawings/routers for use in facilitating the build process 

  • Assign new part numbers and establish Bill of Materials (BOM’s) 

  • Provide recommendations for continual improvement to production processes and process flow 

  • Provide technical support for production personnel 

  • Create quotations for services (RFQ’s) 

  • Interface with customers and vendors on technical issues 

  • Build or direct technician on first article builds 

  • Review and interpret customer drawings for changes to product and initiate Engineering Change Order’s 

  • Review discrepant material for disposition 

  • Produce and maintain accurate documentation relating to the build process 

  • Research and procure equipment and tooling required for manufacturing 

  • Generate “incoming inspection” measurement criteria, including identifying all inspection Critical dimensions/notes and the corresponding tolerances and measurement tools 

 

What you’ll bring  

  • Associates degree in engineering or technology preferred  

  • 2-3 years of manufacturing engineering experience; experience with cable assemblies beneficial but not required 

  • Demonstrated experience with MS-Office (MS Excel, MS Word) and MS-Windows 

  • Experience writing production processes  

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and work experience in electronic assembly and box builds preferred 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively 

  • Excellent verbal communications skills and computer literacy 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively 

  • Strong attention to detail 

  • ISO 9001 experience a definite plus 

  • Experience utilizing CAD software is a plus
