Overview

This role should be titled “GCG’s Backbone,” because Network Engineers truly make our connections possible.  We’re looking for a full-time Network Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the infrastructure that allows us to stay connected with the people that matter most: our employees, and our customers. You will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining core connectivity to support GCG corporate locations, data centers, and hybrid clouds supporting critical business functions. In addition, you will oversee the day-to-day network operations, maintain company network standards, and implement open network projects.

 

*This is a hybrid role that will report into one of our facilities located in either Alpharetta, GA; Chicago, IL; or Miamisburg, OH.

 

What you’ll do

  • Stay on top of the latest and greatest. We’re cutting-edge – and want to stay that way! You will help us continue growing, evolving, and maintain our dominance in the market.
  • Use your education, experience, and real-time knowledge to architect, implement, and support our enterprise LAN/WAN network infrastructure
  • Oversee the deployment of company-wide network technology standards and infrastructure, provide security, regulatory compliance, and provision for disaster recovery
  • Develop long-term network road maps
  • Manage acquisitions seamlessly by bringing the newly acquired network(s) to GCG SD/WAN fabric and standards. Easier said than done, I know. But rewarding, nonetheless
  • Educate colleagues by explaining things in terms non-technical employees will understand.
  • Build, train, and lead a talented, flexible, and responsive world-class systems organization with a high sense of urgency, customer-oriented, and exceptionally responsive. Keep the complexed simple.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards, suggesting improvements to maximize effectiveness and minimizing costs  
  • Establish and ensure compliance with service level objectives and agreements, key performance indicators, and other metrics to measure success and identify opportunities 
  • Work alongside server, storage, and service teams; help deliver projects and services as needed.

What you’ll bring

  • Technical degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or similar (preferred)  
  • Microsoft and Cisco/Fortinet Networking experience, CCIE, CCNP Certification (highly preferred)
  • 5+ years of hands-on IT experience  
  • Experience integrating various IT platforms of acquired companies into a cohesive, unified system
  • Prior experience with MPLS, SD/WAN networking, wireless networks
  • Deep knowledge in Cisco, Fortinet, and Aruba technologies as they are the core of GCG Infrastructure  
  • Hands-on experience with AAA platforms: Radius/TACAS, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, RSTP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SIP, Packet Capture, Network Performance Analysis
