Overview

GCG Automation, a division of GCG, is currently seeking a motivated, outgoing Controls Application Engineer to provide top tier technical guidance, consultation, and support to new and existing GCG customers throughout Ohio and Western PA.  In this role, you will leverage your industrial electrical controls expertise and up-to-date industry knowledge to educate customers and sales staff on product lines, features, and specifications based on client company business needs.  Additionally, you will assist during and following product implementation to resolve technical issues in a manner that ensures customer satisfaction.

 

*This is a remote position; however, frequent travel to onsite customers throughout Ohio, Western PA, and West Virginia will be required. 

 

What you’ll do

  • Provide comprehensive technical support to customers and sales team in the form of web-based and onsite product demonstrations, updates, and usage/implementation training to ensure best use applications for automation products
  • Provide technical assistance throughout and following product implementation process as needed to ensure best-in-class customer experience
  • Maintain up-to-date records within company systems of consultative and technical assistance activities including scheduling of onsite visits and status of all necessary follow ups
  • Maintain working knowledge of latest automation industry trends and evolving vendor product updates

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial engineering or electrical engineering; equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite and CRM software
  • Demonstrating understanding and working knowledge of controls hardware including but not limited to motor starters, circuit breakers, and motor control centers (MCC’s)
  • Keen ability to define problems, recognize abstract and concrete variables, collect technical data, and draw valid conclusions based on that analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and effectively interpret technical manuals and instructions in mathematical and diagram form
  • Proven comfort with frequent customer interactions including the presentation of product features, usage best practices, and findings of technical analysis
